Equity, Diversity & Transformation (EDT)
Advancing Equity. Cultivating Belonging. Transforming Systems.
Welcome to the Department of Equity, Diversity, and Transformation at Highline College

Our work is rooted in the belief that every student, staff member, and community partner deserves to thrive in an environment where their identities, histories, and lived experiences are honored. Highline College has long been recognized as one of the most diverse higher education institutions in Washington State, and with that distinction comes a responsibility: to ensure that equity is not just a value we name, but a practice we live by.
Over the past few years, our department has led initiatives that strengthened culturally responsive teaching, expanded student support programs, deepened community partnerships, and advanced institutional accountability. We have launched new cultural learning communities, expanded equity‑focused professional development, and collaborated across campus to embed equity into policy, planning, and assessment.
Looking ahead, our goals are bold. We are committed to transforming systems to eliminate barriers, expand pathways for student success, and ensure that Highline’s Strategic Priorities, particularly those centered on equity, access, and community engagement, guide every decision we make.
Thank you for visiting our page and for joining us in this ongoing work. Together, we can build a campus where every person feels seen, supported, and empowered to succeed.
